Make It Seven! Not you, Balsillie.
Final Score (Hi Dad!)
4-1 Red Wings.
The Skinny
The Red Wings marched into Buffalo and picked up right where they left off in Detroit. A 4-1 curb-stomping actually looks closer on the scoreboard than it was in reality. That the Sabres are a playoff team right now is beyond me — chalk another one up to the dumpster fire that is the L’Eastern Conference. Detroit has now won seven in a row, and will try to keep the train rolling on Sunday against the Avs.
Bullets of Importance
- At one point in the first period, the Sabres played a whole shift with six skaters on the ice. No one noticed because they were still shitty.
- Jakub Kindl made it 1-0 when he floated a saucer from the blueline past Jhonas Enroth. First Ericsson, now Kindl this week — all six Red Wings defensemen have scored a goal this season.
- Johan Franzen made it 2-0 approximately zero seconds later, and he made it look easy. A few shifts later, Valtteri Filppula positively walked around best name nominee Marc-Andre Gragnani like Gragnani was standing still. Come to think of it, he might have been. Datsyuk sealed it with an empty netter. 4-1, ballgame. At least you have the Bills, Buffalo. Oh wait, sorry…
Bullets of Less Importance
- Griffins leading scorer Chris Conner was called up following up Wednesday’s game against Tampa. Classy move putting him on the ice to start the game — he played with a lot of energy and will likely play the rest of the trip.
- Ryan Miller didn’t play tonight, because why throw him to the wolves his first day back? I’m sure he didn’t want to be embarrassed by being the second best Miller brother tonight.
- On a serious note, it was learned before the game that play-by-play announcer Ken Daniels lost his father today at the age of 96. Our deepest condolences to Mr. Daniels and his family. We’re pretty sure that the senior Mr. Daniels would have been proud of the junior Mr. Daniels taking the microphone and doing what he does.
The Disch Approved “Horsecop” of the Game
Jimmy Howard one more time. During the seven-game win streak, he’s only allowed 12 goals. That’s… inappropriate.
The Riggy “Shitbox” of the Game
Hard to pick one when the team played so dominant… so I guess I’ll leave it up to you fine folks.
Point Pace :: The Wings are on pace for 113 points, which would be the most since they won the Cup in ’08.
What’s Next?
The boys visit The Pepsi Can in Denver on Sunday. Disch is going Gonzo that morning.
