Feb 2 :: Didn’t We Just Do This?
Don’t drive angry!
WHAT’S ALL THIS THEN?
Must be some sort of record…it’s the fifth straight Wings Wings Tuesday. Gander, put your order in now. You and me… we’re drowning in chicken wings for this one. Game time is 10:30pm Eastern. Wings visit California, where they’ll have warm weather tomorrow, gang wars, and some very overpriced real estate.
WHAT’S THE BIG IDEA?
Tomas Holmstrom is back to deflect pucks and take sticks in the back. I wonder if he has insurance. Because even if he does, he could use a little more. Am I right or am I right or am I right? Right?
NOW WHERE WERE WE?
The Wings and Sharks play again. No it isn’t groundhog day…oh wait, yes it is. Anyway, the last time they met was January 9th. The Wings were 4-1 winners, with Howard in net. Marleau scored his 29th of the season, and Detroit’s goal scorers were Datsyuk (11), Cleary (9), Helm (8), and Eaves (5).

QUICK THOUGHTS
1. The Wings had the Sharks number last time. I’m not even going to say this is a big opportunity, because they all are. I just hope it plays out like a few weeks ago.
2. Mike Babcock said the team needs to play with more emotion. Gee, are you sure? Homer’s return should spark some of that.
3. If the playoffs started right now (and, thankfully, they don’t), the Wings would play the Sharks. A win tonight would ensure an extra few hours in 8th spot.
4. Today is Todd Bertuzzi’s birthday. To thank him for all he’s given us (read: accidental goals and endless TPL fodder), I’ve decided to make a pact: I won’t say anything negative about him until after his birthday…which should be around the start of the third period, when I will return to pointing out all the ridiculous shit he does on a shift-by-shift basis, and arguing with people who are so quick to point out he leads the team in goals, but don’t seem to realize that zero of them came without Pavel Datsyuk or Henrik Zetterberg nearby.
5. The Oscar nominations came out this morning (link goes to a friend’s site) – so it was like Christmas Lite around here. Anyone have a favorite film of 2009?

WHAT WE LEARNED vs. the Penguins
OMG DO YOU KNOW WHO SIDNEY CROSBY IS?!
Excellent quote for Ville. Well played, sir.
On the Oscars, Up was absolutely awesome I thought–considering it was aimed as a kids movie mainly. I've been wanting to see the Hurt Locker but it's never in. Might have to suck it up and buy it.
"…I always toast to world peace"
Damnit I love this movie.
"Ned?"
It's Wings Wings Tuesday? My college education doesn't help me mark calendars accurately so I had the San Jose game marked for tomorrow… Geez, I almost missed a game!
Ah, darn. I was going to procrastinate in the afternoon and finish up my essay overnight but I guess I should get started now!
Wings… BW3 Wings…
I'm going to tonight's game and thinking about making Bertfloppytuzzi a birthday sign just because everyone deserves to have a day. Any clever ideas?
P.S. I may or may not be serious.
I'm starting to think we're not allowed to get rid of Ville Leino, due to the quality of the nicknames…
The Hangover is the movie of 09.
Love how you forgot Meech even though hes actually gonna play.
Vicky, just tell Tuzzi I said hello. He'll know who it is…
Jenn, I agree. They almost write themselves anymore.
Andy, totally forgot Meech. Obviously, we hadn't received word, but he didn't register at all. I'm sick, but that's no excuse…or is it?
Petrella – Did you ever get that card you wrote to Mantuzzi in the mail…the one you hosed down with all your cologne with the love poem? If not, this might be a good time to do it…a welcome surprise on his bday. Don't hold on to that one brother. That that love light shine.
Ya know, I did… and what I received back was much more disturbing. It was just text after text after text of bloody crime scenes. Turns out he's a sick bastard. Who knew?
Well, I have a flaw in your Bert niceness clause. He's out here on the west, so when you start insulting him it is still technically his birthday here, where he resides currently.
Frankly, he's lucky to get the few hours of East Coast time.
Some call it a flaw, others call it a plan. HA
My favorite sharks are blue sharks, whale sharks, and especially blacktip sharks. Love the blacktip sharks.
