Tatar scores a pair in Prospect Camp opener
Nothing goes with red and white like canary yellow!
Sunday evening, Red Wings prospect camp opened in Traverse City – as the Wings young’ns defeated the Thrasher prospects by a score of 6-4. 2009 second round pick Tomas Tatar scored a pair of goals including the game’s first eight minutes into the contest.
Griffins defenseman Sergei Kolosov had two third-period assists, during a string of five unanswered final-frame goals. Thomas McCollum stopped 24 of 28 shots he faced in the first game of his second go-around of the Traverse City tournament.
New signee Travis Ehrhardt, ’09 draft pick Andrej Nestrasil, undrafted free agent signee Brett Raedeke and relative veteran Cory Emmerton also scored for the Wings. Emmerton added an assist on Raedeke’s empty netter.
Griffins center Francis Pare led the game with a +4 rating, followed by Tatar (+3), Emmerton (+3), Brian Lashoff (+2), Logan Pyett (+2), and Kolosov (+2). Only Johan Ryno (-1) finished in the negatives for the good guys.
Fourth overall draft pick Evander Kane’s coming out party wasn’t all for naught – he scored a second period goal to put the Thrashers up 2-1.
