Oh hey, I remember that guy…

Jiri Slegr’s Twelve Oaks Glamour Shot – circa 1993.

With the San Jose Sharks signing former Red Wing prospect Danny Groulx this afternoon, it got me thinking… where are all those other “that guy”s? Groulx never got into a game with the Wings, so he’s in the same echelon of “former Wings” as Tomas Fleischmann and Shawn Matthias (who are playing with the Capitals and Panthers).

The following list is all the players that played at least one game for the Red Wings and are still active players. I’ve excluded players that didn’t play this past season, mostly because I figured that means that they’ve hung up their skates (I’m looking at you, Brad Norton).

If no details are given (like the year they departed), their final NHL team was the Red Wings.

  1. Thank you!

My biggest "OH YEAH!" moments were Dmitri Bykov and Donald MacLean.

And I'm halfway bummed about Nathan Robinson – I liked him a lot. Little guy, speedy as hell.
