Truth be told, I completely forgot about Cory Emmerton. As much as they like his natural centering ability, I have to believe that he is — in fact — next in line to sit (presuming that they don’t sit Nyquist, that is).

Good catch. You’re totally right.

Those guys clearly work well together, and with all that extra space on the ice, they’d be a constant threat to score.

That is *only* if you think Homer’s chipmunk skills will be needed on the power play.  So far this year, he has not amazed me, but it’s Homer, so you never know what you will get from him.

While the Blues were putting a ton of forechecking pressure on the Wings, and Ericsson in particular, for a guy who has spent as much time in the NHL as Ericsson, I’d expect him to handle it better. He seemed to hesitate, panic and not make as good of decisions in those situations.

I don’t know if it’s that Babs gets the same kind of impatience that I do with Nyquist, in that he wants him to capitalize on chances and then slides him down the bench when he doesn’t, or that he just has more faith in vets like Barfluzzie when things go south. I do know I was sad to see Pavquist broken up.

I wonder: Could the Wings trade their prospects in Grand Rapids for draft picks? While I wouldn’t want us to completely purge the team, it’d be interesting if we could use well developed draft picks we’re excited about as currency to get better draft picks down the road.

Either way, it was an exciting win.
