Haters. Rig Rules! https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/03/29/tpl-guest-post-fuckyeah-haters-rig-rules/ https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/03/29/tpl-guest-post-fuckyeah-haters-rig-rules/#comments Mon, 29 Mar 2010 19:13:00 +0000 https://tplarchive.detroithockey.net/2010/03/tpl-guest-post-fuckyeah-haters-rig-rules/ It’s been months and months, but Disch and I have been trying diligently to get my mother to plop some words onto TPL, and finally – after a positively inspired performance by Jonathan Ericsson – she obliged. Below are her words, verbatim, no interjection or editing.

It’s been a spectacular few days.

Herm To Hockeytown was frolicking awesome! Herm is now a local sensation and will probably never talk to any of us again unless we go through his publicist. We met him on Thursday, he was shy and quiet; by Friday, he was twittering Emma Andersson (HANK WHO?!) and swept Robs new, hot girlfriend off her feet…and she wasn’t even there!

It was wonderful to put faces to names and we’re so grateful that you awesome winged wheeler fans came from far and wide to make H2H a huge success. And your generosity, unbelievable; $5365.72, all for Children’s Hospital.

The people involved in making this happen deserve a group hug…your countless hours spent planning the event resulted in one hell of a party!

I’d like to recap the game for you, but Jonathan “Gettin’ Riggy wit it” Ericsson scored and poof, time stood still. The shock & awe of it ground the earth’s rotation to a halt.

To all that I’ve had the honor of meeting these past few days, and to all my newly “adopted” kids, it’s been a blast. Be safe and GO WINGS!!!!

Totally Looks Like… Finalists and WINNER! https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/02/05/totally-looks-like-finalists-and-winner/ https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/02/05/totally-looks-like-finalists-and-winner/#comments Fri, 05 Feb 2010 15:06:00 +0000 https://tplarchive.detroithockey.net/2010/02/totally-looks-like-finalists-and-winner/ We’ve had lots of laughs over the last seven days, and that’s thanks to the dozens of hilarious submissions in our Look-a-Like Contest. Rob and I decided it’d be funny to offer up a “prize” to the winner, the cheesier the better, in hopes that the winner would take said prize (a Marian Hossa banner…really…who would want that, even if he was still on the team?) and take lurid and disturbing photos of it (think: with a noose around it’s thin fabric neck and trailing behind a car).
Since one of the more popular submissions (Todd Bertuzzi totally looks like Charles Manson) was submitted by a member of the family (HI MOM!), I thought it’d be only fair to have her select the finalists and the winner.
Before we announce the winner, we thought it’d be fun to take a look at the rest of the Top Ten. A pretty awesome selection: some that really look like a celebrity counterpart — others that were just too funny to pass up. In no particular order, your finalists:
Herm‘s Kris Draper / Chuck Norris submission
WingedUP‘s Jon Heder / Justin Abdelkader submission
Serven‘s Todd Bertuzzi / Brett Favre submission
Jennbikegirl‘s Nicklas Lidstrom / Neil Patrick Harris submission
UCLA Jenn‘s Carson Daly / Todd Bertuzzi submission
Casey‘s Willem Dafoe / Mike Babcock submission
CaptNorris5‘s Chris Osgood / Weird Talking E-Trade Baby submission
Natalie‘s Ville Leino / Scream Killer submission
Andy‘s Jimmy Howard / Brick Wall submission
Drumroll, please! It’s time to announce the winner of the first TPL-sponsored Look-a-Like Contest (which totally implies we intend on doing it again, because it was too full of awesome)… the winner has been contacted, and we eagerly await seeing what she does with Fabric Marian. We know the rest of you do, as well.
Baroque’s Niklas Kronwall / Speeding Truck submission
Great stuff from everyone – we were all very impressed. We always knew our readers were beautiful/handsome and intelligent… but clever and funny, too? Man… Rob and I thought there were so few of us…

Totally Looks Like… https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/01/28/totally-looks-like/ https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2010/01/28/totally-looks-like/#comments Fri, 29 Jan 2010 01:29:00 +0000 https://tplarchive.detroithockey.net/2010/01/totally-looks-like/

***UPDATE 2***
Alright, here’s the deal. Rob and I decided we wanted the “prize” to be something completely cheesy – it’s only fitting. So, we’ll leave the contest open for a week — until next Friday, February 5th — and then TPL Mom will pick the winner from all of our hilarious submissions. I’ll get in touch with the winner to get their address and send them a (wait for it….) Marian Hossa – IN BANNER FORM! It was a gift from the season ticket office, and no one wants it. Perhaps it can adorn your dartboard, or replace the toilet paper roll, or be crafted into a voodoo doll of sorts.

***UPDATE***
A “prize” will be announced in the morning (and by morning, I mean afternoon). To make things fair, TPL Mom is going to be your judge… thus removing from contention the Bertuzzi/Manson TLL which is DAMN good.

Keep ’em coming. This is hilarious.
=====

My mom wants to know… “doesn’t Unfaithful’s Oliver Martinez look like Jonathan Ericsson?”

And so the next TPL contest is borne… which celebrity/actor/actress/person most looks like your favorite Red Wing? Bonus points for the best Todd Bertuzzi “TLL.” Rob and I will brainstorm some sort of “prize” for the best examples.

Go to www.totallylookslike.com to build your own…

Bring ’em on…
