That said…..his playoffs were amazing.  His game 5 performance against the Sharks was good enough in itself for me to forgive him of many of his sins (game 4 was pretty damn good too).  My wife even questioned me after game 5, because she was so used to me badmouthing him and I was singing his praises.

I will give him a “pass” for the year, largely due to his massive “extra credit.”

I know we aren’t supposed to look at the future for this, but I will say that my standards for him next year (particularly his defensive play) will be much higher.  Raff is leaving and I expect him to grow the F— up.

Agreed. Was scraping the barrel a bit to find something tangible to dock him for. That said, they were spectacularly bad.

By: J.J. https://tpl.detroit.hockey/2011/05/24/passfail-niklas-kronwall/#comment-4296 Tue, 24 May 2011 16:02:00 +0000 https://tplarchive.detroithockey.net/?p=4438#comment-4296 In fairness to Kronwall’s devastatingly-bad mental lapses, many of those happened in the 15-game span between January 7th and February 17th.  That’s the span of games that Brad Stuart missed with the broken jaw after the Kostopoulos hit.  As a result, Kronwall was moved to a pairing with Lidstrom.  While this should have made things better, it also meant that Kronwall had to adjust to playing on the other side of the ice.  That is an incredibly difficult transition to make and Kronwall’s numbers suffered for it. 

I’d easily give him a passing grade on the season.
