Why would you want to go through San Jose AND Vancouver to get to the cup finals when we could hope for the Blackhawks to win tonight, let them and the Sharks beat up on each other, steamroll the Preds, and then play a dilapidated Hawks/Sharks team in the Conf. Finals. Playoffs are never easy but I’ll take the easiest route on paper, as opposed to “proving something” by beating the sharks…

I was just debating with myself as to who I would like to see the Wings play in the second round when this article popped up in my twitter timeline. Needless to say, my self debate was soon over. All I can think now is how each of the Wings are like cogs in a well oiled 10 speed that Babs is pedaling. After last year, all I want to see is the Wings make the jump over San Jose in the second round. Hmm…I wonder if they make accessories for this bike? I sure would like a set of Lanny McDonald handlebars!

They did win last year, but from their play in the next round against Chicago it’s pretty clear that they let down a lot after the Detroit series. I’m sure they want to prove that they can not only beat Detroit, but know that it is only one step on their way to winning a Cup. It’s a sign of maturity to keep their focus trained on the final goal, not thinking that they have accomplished everything they wanted to by succeeding at an intermediate step.
